About us

We are Dunfermline storytellers

Proud locals sharing royal history, new music, hidden gems, and the people who keep the Auld Grey Toun buzzing.

Our story

Visit Dunfermline grew from a group of friends determined to shout about our city. Dunfermline, affectionately called the Auld Grey Toun, may have been crowned a city in 2022, but its royal roots stretch back a thousand years.

Our team, led by lifelong Dunfermline native Billy George, brings a uniquely Fife perspective on history, music, arts, and everyday life. We dig through archives, chase down stories from neighbours, and capture the community spirit that keeps Dunfermline buzzing.

The heart behind the guides

From storytelling to street-level tips, Visit Dunfermline champions people-first experiences. Expect plenty of royal lore, bold photography, music memories, and handy itineraries so you can explore like a local.

  • Dunfermline Abbey: Resting place of Robert the Bruce and a place we never tire of exploring.
  • Pittencrieff Park: The Glen’s gardens, peacocks, and play parks are our weekend reset.
  • Heritage Quarter: Independent cafés, Carnegie Library & Galleries, and creative pop-ups.
  • Local music: From Carnegie Hall to PJ Molloys, the city’s gig calendar is always packed.

Celebrate heritage

We shine a light on Dunfermline Abbey, Pittencrieff Park, Carnegie Library & Galleries, and hidden closes with fresh context.

Lift local voices

Our contributors are musicians, historians, photographers, and neighbours who live the stories we share.

Inspire discovery

We blend classics with new finds so first-time visitors and lifelong locals uncover something brilliant.

Locals who love Dunfermline

We aim to highlight everything Dunfermline has to offer – from iconic historic sites to hidden gem cafés – through engaging stories, photography, and events. At Visit Dunfermline we celebrate the old and the new: legendary tales of King Robert the Bruce and Andrew Carnegie, plus the latest festivals, local bands, and community happenings.

We Fifers are proud of our heritage and excited for our future, and we're here to share it all with you. Whether you're planning your first visit or rediscovering the city you call home, welcome to the community!

“Dunfermline has always punched above its weight. From royal coronations to rock icons, this city is built on big stories and even bigger heart.”
- Billy George, Founder of Visit Dunfermline
